1 Timothy 2:1–4 (NASB95)

1     First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,

2     for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.

3     This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

4     who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Olam Worship had the privilege of leading worship last Tuesday, 5/20/2025, at the first Texas Judeo-Christian Capitol Day ever, and it was a blessing to be a part of this monumental event. There were some awesome, godly speakers who participated, including Pastors Andy Woods and Shahram Hadian, and they touched on some very important topics that I believe every Christian in America should keep in their minds. I wanted to share some of my quick thoughts about the spiritual state of our nation and what we can do as believers during the times in which we live before the imminent return of Jesus Christ.

Firstly, to bring true spiritual awakening in our nation, the God of the Bible must be in the center of this movement. This means that we must, first and foremost, be in fervent prayer for our leaders and our people with the perspective that any movement becomes ineffective without God leading the charge. Although this passage is directly applicable to Israel, Psalm 33:12 comes to mind, which states,  "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord..." A national and individual shift away from the prevalent secular and humanistic ideologies is only as good as the movement in direction towards Jesus Christ.

Secondly, Christian values are undeniably the bedrock of this nation. Pastor Andy Woods drove this point home cogently with his speech at the Capitol. This also ties into the first point being made in this article. Law, morality, and ethics, are deeply intertwined with faith and religion, regardless of how loudly people want to shout about the separation between church and state. Was this nation a perfect one because of its foundational Christian values represented by our founding fathers? Of course not. However, the postmodernists' attacks on the traditional structures of this nation also include mainly an attack on the Christian faith. The conservatives' rejection of the postmodern utopian vision must also come with a deeper understanding of what the postmodernist is fundamentally challenging.

Finally, God is continually building His Church in the midst of everything going on this nation. It is so easy to become vexed and disheartened by what we see in America, but do not lose courage! God is continuing to preserve a remnant and build His church, in which the gates of Hades will not prevail against it (Matt. 16:18). The will of God throughout the ages will be done prophetically, and we should fundamentally keep our minds on the blessed hope and the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13). Praise God for this reality!

I hope this brief article encourages you, and let us to lift up our praises and worship in adoration of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Have a blessed weekend!

In Him,

Jonathan
